How do I do RC Car circuit modification?

I want build an rc car from scratch (sort of). I bough a 24V 350W DC motor that was on an electric scooter. Ha! I will buy the receiver, a radio controller, and some sort of frame. I just want to know how I should modify or recreate the circuit board. Also, what type of battery string(s) should I have connected? I guess I need some sort of speed controller.

How do I remotely control a speed controller?

I have a 24v 350W motor and a speed controller rated the same. Is it possible to remotely control it with parts from another RC circuit? I just wanted to build a large RC car or maybe modify a power wheels toy or something. Anybody have any ideas?
