Spektrum Dx6i vs. Hitec Optic 6 rc transmitter?

I'm trying to decide between between the spektrum dx6i or the hitec optic 6 rc transmitter. I am mainly going to use one for rc plane flying. The dx6i transmitter is 2.4ghz radio which is nice but the recievers for it are more expensive, however this radio is cheaper. The Optic 6 is a synthesized fm radio. This radio is more expensive. I don't know if this radio can work with normal crystal receivers. If anyone knows if it can, please tell me. I'm just wondering which radio you would recommend.
